Sacramento Workers Hold Overnight Vigil in Support of the Employee Free Choice Act

Sacramento union workers and community members held a daylong/overnight vigil in support of the Employee Free Choice Act Wednesday, May 6th through Thursday, May 7th at Sacramento’s Federal Building. A broad coalition including labor, elected officials, community leaders, interfaith leaders, and workers called for law that would restore workers’ freedom to form and join unions.

Over the 18-hour vigil nearly 500 allies came by at one time or another to express their support for the Employee Free Choice Act and call on Senator Dianne Feinstein to sign on in support as well. Over one dozen supporters also showed their dedication by fasting over a 24-hour period which overlapped the time of the vigil.

The Sacramento vigil was held in conjunction with four other vigils across the state – San Francisco, Los Angeles, Fresno, and San Diego.
