Mission Statement

The Council serves as an umbrella organization, coordinating political, community, and educational programs for more than 100 unions. We represent 100,000 workers in healthcare, transportation, education, construction, manufacturing, and service. The mission of the Alameda Labor Council, AFL-CIO is to improve the lives of working families by bringing economic justice to our workplaces and social justice to our communities. To accomplish this mission, we work to:

• Build a broad movement of workers by helping workers join and form unions.
• Create sound policies to strengthen the voice of working families.
• Improve our communities, state and nation, and build community partnerships.
• Support workers as we bargain with employers to improve our living and working conditions.
